The controversy escalated as Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust officials, Champat Rai and Anil Mishra, resigned amid scrutiny over donations handling. Eight individuals, including temple staff and a retired bank employee, faced allegations of diverting devotees’ offerings. The accused were arrested and remanded to judicial custody as investigations pointed towards a suspected organized embezzlement scheme.
The resignations of Rai and Mishra marked a significant accountability step following public outrage. An FIR was filed against the accused for their involvement in diverting cash and valuables donated at the temple. Police are expected to seek custodial remand for detailed interrogation to uncover the alleged conspiracy and trace the flow of funds.
