A convocation of the Multi Skill Development Centres (MSDCs) took place at the World Skill Campus of Excellence, Government ITI Campus in Ludhiana on World Youth Skills Day. Certificates were awarded, and appointment letters were distributed to 1,044 young individuals. Governor Gulab Chand Kataria and Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary were part of the event, with Padma Shri Vikramjit Singh Sahney hosting the ceremony.
The gathering, attended by over 3,000 youth and various stakeholders, marked one of the largest celebrations of World Youth Skills Day in Punjab. Governor Kataria praised the efforts in skill development and job creation, particularly acknowledging Sahney’s leadership in empowering the youth with skills and employment opportunities. Minister Chaudhary commended Sahney for establishing top-notch skill development centers in the state.
Sahney emphasized the importance of skill development and job creation in addressing issues like unemployment, drug abuse, and migration in Punjab. He highlighted the ‘Skill for Jobs’ scheme, which annually trains over 5,000 youth through Multi Skill Development Centres, leading to their successful employment in reputed organizations nationwide. Sahney’s efforts aim to align youth aspirations with industry demands, ensuring dignified job prospects.
The dignitaries also visited the World Skills Campus of Excellence, engaging with trainees and observing demonstrations in artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, hospitality, healthcare, and other emerging sectors.
