The Counter-Intelligence Wing Kashmir (CIK) took action against a digital propaganda ring following a declaration by the NIA court that the accused are absconding. The CIK stated that it targeted the network for spreading destabilizing content on social media platforms. The Special Judge, designated under the NIA Act in Srinagar, issued proclamations against the accused in FIR No. 07/2020.
The case involves serious offenses under Sections 153-A and 505 of the IPC, as well as Section 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). The FIR was filed based on intelligence inputs indicating a coordinated conspiracy by anti-national elements. The accused, posing as journalists and news portals, misused platforms like Facebook, X, and WhatsApp to circulate fake narratives inciting violence and damaging public order.
The accused, who are absconding, face arrest warrants and have been warned to appear before the Special NIA Court by January 31, 2026. Despite being declared absconders, they continue their activities on social media, spreading hostile propaganda. The CIK emphasized its commitment to combating anti-national propaganda and digital subversion, warning of strict legal action against such activities.
