The court has granted permission to Pappu Gurjar, the younger brother of slain dacoit Jagan Gurjar, to attend his last rites under tight security. Pappu Gurjar, also incarcerated in Ajmer High Security Jail, sought approval to perform his brother’s final rites, which was granted after review by the court. He will be escorted by heavy police security to his ancestral village in Rajasthan’s Dholpur district for the funeral.
Circle Officer Manish Badgurjar mentioned that Jagan Gurjar’s family members are holding a sit-in protest to address their demands, which have been communicated to senior police officials. Discussions with the deceased dacoit’s family are currently ongoing. The post-mortem examination will be overseen by a medical board.
Ajmer Civil Lines Police have initiated a murder case based on a complaint from the prison administration and have commenced investigations. Statements from Deputy Jail Superintendent Bhanwar Singh and other prison staff on duty during the incident have been recorded by the police. Further actions will be determined based on post-mortem findings and gathered evidence.
Jagan Gurjar was reportedly murdered inside Ajmer High-Security Jail, with an undertrial accused named Vishnu from the Kuldeep Jaghina murder case identified as the prime suspect. Vishnu and Jagan were housed in the same barrack, and the incident occurred during the daily routine when Vishnu emerged from the barrack while Jagan was found unconscious inside. The body was moved to JLN Hospital in Ajmer for heightened security.
Jagan Gurjar’s son, Asaram Gurjar, has raised serious allegations regarding the death, claiming it was not merely an inmate assault but part of a broader conspiracy involving collusion between prison officials and other inmates. Asaram Gurjar has requested a fair and judicial inquiry into the matter to establish accountability. Jagan Gurjar had been transferred to Ajmer High-Security Jail from Dholpur District Jail in March 2026 as per orders from the Directorate General of Prisons.
