Communist Party of India (CPI) Rajya Sabha MP, P. Sandosh Kumar, criticized the Union government and the National Testing Agency (NTA) for canceling the NEET UG 2026 examination due to a paper leak. This decision has left numerous students in a state of uncertainty and distress. Sandosh Kumar expressed concern over the repeated paper leaks, exam scandals, and cancellations, highlighting the flaws in the current examination system.
The CPI leader accused the Narendra Modi government of neglecting students’ aspirations while favoring a centralized structure that benefits coaching centers and privileged individuals over disadvantaged students. He called for the scrapping of NEET and the NTA, advocating for a decentralized examination system that upholds principles of social justice and respects states’ rights. Sandosh Kumar demanded immediate corrective actions and a Supreme Court-monitored investigation to hold accountable those responsible for jeopardizing students’ futures.
Meanwhile, the Congress also raised concerns about corruption in the NEET UG 2026 examination and criticized the government for the paper leak. Congress MP Jairam Ramesh highlighted a series of irregularities in various national examinations conducted by the NTA, emphasizing the need for accountability and transparency in the examination process. Ramesh pointed out instances of errors and delays in exams like JEE Mains 2025 and CUET, which have disrupted academic calendars and pushed students towards private universities for admissions.
Ramesh underscored the lack of accountability of the NTA to the Parliament and the need for significant improvements in its functioning. He criticized the Modi government for centralizing admissions processes, leading to corruption and inefficiencies within the examination system. The Congress MP called for a fundamental restructuring of the NTA and its ecosystem to prevent further irregularities and ensure transparency in the examination process.
