A CPI(M) delegation, led by General Secretary M.A. Baby, and a 10-member Samajwadi Party delegation were halted by police at the Chilla Border and DND in Noida. M.A. Baby expressed disappointment at being denied a meeting with the District Magistrate to address the alleged police lathi-charge on workers. Similarly, the Samajwadi Party delegation faced obstruction at the DND due to heavy police presence.
Key leaders from the Samajwadi Party, including Mata Prasad Pandey and others, were detained at the DND site. Mata Prasad Pandey highlighted the workers’ grievances and criticized the authorities for neglecting their concerns. The situation further escalated in Noida’s Sector 8 as employees protested for a salary hike, leading to a significant police presence to maintain order.
Tensions rose as security measures were heightened in key areas like the DND Flyway to avert any escalation. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized the protection of workers’ rights and dignity during a review meeting on the industrial scenario. He stressed the importance of maintaining a peaceful work environment and taking strict action against any disruptive elements.
