Cricket South Africa (CSA) has confirmed that they will be hosting India, the world champions, for a five-match T20I series in April. The series is set to take place in Durban, Johannesburg, and Benoni from April 17 to 27. The opening two matches will be held at Kingsmead Stadium on April 17 and 19, followed by games at the Wanderers Stadium on April 22 and 25. The final match will be played at Willowmoore Park in Benoni on April 27.
This series marks the Proteas Women’s final official engagement before the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, which commences on June 12 in England. South Africa, placed in Group 1 alongside Australia, Pakistan, India, and two qualifier teams, will use this series to prepare for the upcoming global tournament.
Enoch Nkwe, CSA’s Director of National Teams and High Performance, emphasized the significance of facing a high-caliber team like India just before a major event. He highlighted that this series will allow the Proteas Women to test themselves, refine their strategies, and enhance their readiness for the T20 World Cup. The matches against India are expected to play a crucial role in the team’s preparation and performance evaluation.
The upcoming T20I series between South Africa and India will also mark the first international encounter between the two teams since India’s triumph over South Africa in the final of the ODI World Cup in November 2025. India’s victory in that match, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, marked a historic moment as they secured their first ICC silverware after a prolonged wait.
