Crime Rate Rises in Rachakonda Commissionerate in 2025

The overall crime rate in Rachakonda Commissionerate, part of Greater Hyderabad, increased by 15.4% in 2025. The commissionerate, covering urban, semi-urban, and rural areas, saw 30,040 cases reported, up from 28,626 in 2024. Bodily and other offenses rose from 22,357 cases in 2024 to 27,342 in 2025, while kidnapping cases increased from 463 to 579 during the same period. However, property-related offenses like robbery, house burglary, and automobile theft decreased. Rachakonda Police Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu released the annual report, noting a 4% rise in overall crimes against women. Crimes such as dowry murders, dowry deaths, abetment to suicide, harassment/domestic violence, and rapes decreased by 25%, but kidnappings, molestation, and POCSO cases rose by 52%. Cybercrime cases decreased by about 19% in 2025 compared to the previous year, with 3,734 cases reported. Investment fraud, part-time job scams, unauthorized transactions, APK file frauds, and digital arrest scams were the major cybercrime cases. The police returned Rs 40.10 crore to cyber fraud victims during the year. Additionally, 955 cyber awareness programs were conducted, reaching over one lakh people. Drugs worth Rs 20 crore, including 2,090 kg of Ganja, were seized, with 256 cases booked under the NDPS Act and 668 arrests made. Road accidents increased from 3,207 in 2024 to 3,488 in 2025, resulting in 659 deaths. Accidents on Outer Ring Road (ORR) rose from 52 in 2024 to 76 in 2025, with the number of deaths increasing to 80 from 31 the previous year. The Police Commissioner highlighted the VQT Principle – Visible presence, Quick response, and Technology-led initiatives as the strategy for the year. He emphasized the successful enforcement and citizen-centric approach, with 33,040 cases registered and 25,643 cases disposed of, reflecting a focus on timely justice.
