A criminal involved in a police encounter in Patna, Bihar, passed away due to his injuries, while two police officers were wounded in the gunfire exchange. The incident occurred when Mohammad Haider, the criminal, was shot and injured during retaliatory firing on Friday night. He was taken to Paras Hospital for treatment but did not survive.

Patna (East) City SP Parichay Kumar revealed that the confrontation stemmed from an attempted abduction and robbery under the guise of a mobile phone transaction. The victim was lured near Manichak village by a group of youths who tried to steal his phone and money. Police intervened upon receiving a tip-off about the incident.

During the encounter, the criminals fired recklessly at the police team, injuring two officers. Additional SHO Rahul Kumar sustained a bullet wound in his thigh, while ASI Sanjay Kumar was shot in the hand. Both officers are receiving treatment at AIIMS Patna and are reported to be in stable condition.

Mohammad Haider, the criminal injured in the police firing, was initially taken to Punpun PHC and later transferred to PMCH, Max Hospital, and finally Paras Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The police have identified all six individuals involved in the incident and have initiated extensive search operations in the area.

SP Parichay Kumar assured that the remaining suspects would be apprehended soon. The police have heightened surveillance in the vicinity and emphasized that stringent measures will be taken against those responsible to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
