In a significant operation in the Bastar region, the 199th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) successfully recovered and neutralized two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted by Maoists. The operation, carried out near Gangaloor Police Station, averted a potential tragedy as the IEDs were found along an under-construction road, designed to target security personnel or vehicles.
The hidden explosives, one inside a tiffin box and the other in a beer bottle, were meant to detonate on pressure, a common Maoist tactic. Following safety procedures, the Bomb Disposal Team of the 199th Battalion safely defused both IEDs on the spot, ensuring the safety of security forces and civilians. Authorities hailed this as a major blow to a “major Maoist conspiracy.”
The recovery of these IEDs highlights the ongoing threat posed by Maoist-planted explosives in the region, emphasizing the importance of security measures in safeguarding development projects. The operation signifies a step towards peace, security, and uninterrupted development in the area, as security forces intensify efforts to secure infrastructure and combat Maoist activities.
Local residents have expressed relief and optimism following the operation, seeing it as a positive move towards normalcy and improved access to essential services. Security forces continue their vigilance through area domination exercises, aiming to ensure the safety of the region and facilitate developmental activities.
