Security forces from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) successfully prevented a major Maoist attack in Bijapur district on Christmas Day. During an anti-Maoist operation in the dense forests, CRPF personnel discovered and neutralized two high-powered Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). The Bomb Detection and Disposal squad found the IEDs, weighing 20 kg and 5 kg, hidden to target patrols or civilians.
Vigilance during routine patrols led to the detection of 110 bundles of firecrackers, often used by Maoists to create explosives. The CRPF’s swift response in destroying the IEDs averted a potential disaster in an area known for frequent Maoist ambushes. This successful operation is part of the ongoing efforts to combat Naxal activities in Chhattisgarh and ensure the region’s security.
The recovery of the IEDs has been commended as a significant blow to Maoist activities in the region. Security forces’ dedication to safeguarding communities, especially during festive periods, remains crucial in maintaining peace and countering insurgency.
