Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel criticized the United States for baselessly labeling Cuba as a “sponsor of terrorism,” alleging the US is using unfounded claims to justify potential military actions. Diaz-Canel emphasized that Cuba has always pursued peace since its Revolution, while the US administrations have repeatedly threatened this stance. He highlighted the extreme measures taken by the US, including spreading falsehoods and imposing hardships on the Cuban people.
The President pointed out the hypocrisy of the US, a country known for sheltering notorious terrorists, accusing Cuba of terrorism without any evidence and against global opposition. Diaz-Canel reiterated that Cuba, as a peaceful nation, poses no threat to the US or any other country, asserting its right to self-defense under international law. He reaffirmed Cuba’s commitment to resolving conflicts through dialogue and reason, advocating for peace.
Amid escalating tensions, the US indicted Cuban Revolution leader Raul Castro over a decades-old incident and deployed military assets near Cuba, raising concerns of a potential military confrontation. Diaz-Canel warned that any US military aggression towards Cuba would result in catastrophic consequences, jeopardizing regional peace and stability in Latin America and the Caribbean.
