Instances of cyber fraud linked to LPG bookings have emerged in several states, with scammers sending harmful files like “GAS BILL UPDATE APK” via messaging apps like WhatsApp to deceive consumers. It is advised not to download or install any suspicious files from messages to prevent unauthorized access to personal information and bank accounts. Users are urged to stick to official channels for LPG bookings to ensure safety.
The government has urged States and Union Territories to enhance administrative and logistical setups for seamless LPG distribution. Close monitoring of LPG supply at the district level is in place, along with facilitating smooth movement of LPG tankers and cylinders without any disruptions. Public advisories are being widely disseminated to prevent panic buying and promote responsible LPG usage.
Efforts are underway to ensure uninterrupted LPG supply and expand PNG services, especially for households, hospitals, and educational institutions. Measures include increased refinery production, revised booking intervals in urban and rural areas, and prioritized allocation. Additionally, alternative fuel options like kerosene and coal are being provided to alleviate pressure on LPG demand.
States are advised to expedite new PNG connections for domestic and commercial users. A proposal for a 10% additional allocation of commercial LPG to states has been put forth to streamline the process. Consumers are encouraged to avoid panic bookings, utilize digital platforms for bookings, and refrain from visiting LPG distributors as home delivery services remain operational.
