Criminals in Patna carried out a bold daylight robbery, stealing Rs 27 lakh from a cash van under Gopalpur Police Station’s jurisdiction. The robbers, who remain unidentified, targeted a cash van operated by CMS Info Systems, threatening the staff at gunpoint before fleeing with the money. This incident caused panic in the area, leading to a swift police response.
Patna’s East Superintendent of Police, Parichay Kumar, arrived at the crime scene promptly to conduct a thorough inspection. Police teams have initiated a comprehensive investigation, including reviewing CCTV footage from the van and its surroundings. Additionally, the Forensic Science Laboratory has been called in to gather evidence, and technical analysis is ongoing to identify the suspects.
According to Parichay Kumar, approximately five criminals arrived on motorcycles, executed the robbery with precision, and quickly escaped after intimidating the cash van staff. Initial investigations revealed security lapses, such as open windows and the van being unlocked from the inside. The driver and armed guard are under intense questioning to ascertain any negligence on their part.
Authorities have noted that standard operating procedures were not followed, as there was no prior information shared with the local police station by CMS before the cash transportation. Police are actively pursuing leads based on human intelligence inputs and have assured the public that the culprits will be apprehended soon. This incident has reignited concerns about urban security and the adherence to safety protocols in cash transportation systems.
