Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) President Rohan Jaitley expressed the governing body’s commitment to providing year-round opportunities for women cricketers during the inauguration of the second edition of the DDCA Women’s T20 League at Modern School, Barakhamba Road. The tournament, now one of the largest women’s club cricket events in Delhi, has grown from 42 teams in its debut season to 60 teams this year, with over 700 players participating at various venues in the city.
Jaitley, speaking at the opening ceremony, emphasized the significant expansion of the competition and DDCA’s dedication to enhancing the women’s cricket ecosystem in Delhi. He noted the positive response to the Women’s T20 League and the rapid increase in team participation from 42 to 60 in just one year.
The DDCA president stated, “Our goal is to provide continuous opportunities for women cricketers, strengthen the pathway from club cricket to higher levels, and ensure talented players receive the recognition they deserve. I wish all the teams and players the best for the tournament.” The inauguration event was attended by members of the DDCA Apex Council, League Committee officials, club representatives, and participating players.
DDCA vice president Shikha Kumar welcomed the growing number of participants in the league, highlighting the rising popularity of women’s cricket in Delhi. She expressed delight in the increased involvement of over 700 players in this edition, showcasing the sport’s growth and the platform it offers for players to exhibit their skills.
DDCA secretary Ashok Sharma credited the city’s clubs for their pivotal role in the tournament’s expansion, emphasizing the clubs’ longstanding support in making the event larger and more robust. The matches will be held at various locations in Delhi, including Modern School (Grounds 1 and 2) at Barakhamba Road, Shivaji College in Rajouri Garden, Guru Gobind Singh College in Pitampura, and Modern School Ground in Mohan Garden, Uttam Nagar. The 2026 edition will feature 60 teams divided into 10 groups, with the tournament scheduled to take place over the upcoming weeks.
