The death toll from the fire at Prasad Hospital in Muzaffarpur has reached four, as confirmed by Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary. The Chief Minister expressed condolences to the affected families and announced financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased.
In response to the tragedy, Bihar Health Minister Nishant Kumar ensured that all injured patients receive prompt medical care. Several patients have been transferred to other healthcare facilities in Muzaffarpur for treatment.
Authorities have identified the four victims of the fire, including Krishnandan Prasad Singh, Geeta Devi, Shashank Kumar, and Uday Kumar. The fire, which started in the hospital’s ICU, led to a chaotic situation, with emergency responders and locals working together to evacuate those trapped inside.
Preliminary investigations suggest that an electrical short circuit in the ICU ward may have caused the fire. A detailed technical inquiry will determine the exact cause. The district administration has initiated a thorough investigation into the incident, focusing on the hospital’s safety systems and compliance with regulations.
