Debris from an intercepted Iranian projectile struck a tower in Dubai Marina, causing smoke to rise from the building’s facade and briefly alarming the area. Authorities quickly contained the situation, confirming no injuries were reported. Dubai’s government explained that the damage resulted from debris falling after air defense systems intercepted the threat.
The United Arab Emirates’ Defence Ministry announced that its air defense systems were actively responding to missile and drone threats from Iran. During the incident, 16 ballistic missiles were detected, with 15 successfully intercepted and the rest falling into the sea. Additionally, 121 drones were tracked approaching the country, with 119 destroyed before reaching their targets.
Amid heightened tensions, UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan addressed the nation on Abu Dhabi TV, stating that the country is in a period of war and expressing confidence in emerging stronger. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian issued apologies for attacks on neighboring countries during the ongoing conflict, pledging no further strikes unless provoked.
In response to former US President Donald Trump’s call for unconditional surrender, Pezeshkian asserted that Iran’s enemies must abandon such hopes. Recent events stem from coordinated US and Israel airstrikes on Iran following stalled nuclear talks and accusations of nuclear activity resumption. The strikes, known as “Operation Epic Fury,” targeted Iranian cities, resulting in heightened tensions across the region.
