India’s Deepti Sharma expressed joy in becoming the top wicket-taker in women’s T20Is, surpassing Megan Schutt during the fifth T20I against Sri Lanka. Deepti’s 152nd wicket, dismissing Nilakshika Silva lbw, helped India secure a 15-run victory and complete a 5-0 series sweep by defending 175 runs.

Deepti, who won the Player of the Tournament award in the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup, shared her focus on making impactful breakthroughs with the ball in hand. She emphasized her commitment to creating opportunities and contributing to the team’s success through wicket-taking performances.

Arundhati Reddy, contributing with both bat and ball in the match, highlighted her desire to make a significant impact in all aspects of the game. With an unbeaten 27 runs and a bowling figure of 1-16, Reddy expressed her enthusiasm for contributing effectively whenever given the opportunity.

Vaishnavi Sharma, the left-arm spinner, revealed the inspiration behind her unique wicket-taking celebration with skipper Harmanpreet Kaur. Sharma shared the story of planning the celebration and finally executing it after taking a wicket, showcasing the team’s camaraderie and spirit on the field.
