Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed deep sadness over the loss of lives in a tragic fire incident in Delhi. The fire, which occurred in a four-storey building in Vivek Vihar, claimed nine lives, including that of a toddler, and left several others injured. Emergency services responded promptly, with 14 fire engines dispatched to the scene, rescuing over 10 individuals during the operation.
Singh conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the affected families, emphasizing his prayers for the swift recovery of the injured. Police authorities, along with fire and crime teams, swiftly arrived at the scene upon receiving the 4 a.m. alert. By 6 a.m., the fire was under control, and the injured were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
During the rescue efforts, a total of 15 individuals were saved from the building, with two sustaining minor injuries and receiving medical care at Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital.
