Describing National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets as the nation’s second line of defence, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh emphasized the importance of their role in raising public awareness during mock drills like Operation Sindoor. Singh, addressing cadets at the NCC Republic Day Camp in Delhi Cantonment, urged the youth to stay physically, mentally, and emotionally strong to face challenges amidst global uncertainties. He commended the Indian Armed Forces for their response to terrorist activities in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, highlighting their courage and restraint in targeting only those who posed a threat.
Recalling the bravery of the youth, Singh compared them to “Abhimanyu of Mahabharata,” capable of navigating challenges successfully. He called upon them to contribute towards achieving the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047 under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. Stressing the significance of NCC in nurturing the youth and fostering their contribution to nation-building, Singh noted that the organization plays a vital role in breaking the comfort zone prevalent in society through activities like parades and drills.
Singh highlighted the values instilled by NCC, such as discipline, patriotism, and the ability to overcome lack of focus. He emphasized that the training provided by NCC equips cadets with essential life skills to handle emergencies and develop a strong character. Singh underlined the importance of patience, continuity, and focus taught by NCC, essential qualities for facing life’s challenges and fulfilling national responsibilities across various professions.
