Defence Minister Rajnath Singh emphasized that amidst global economic uncertainties, India stands out as the world’s fastest-growing major economy. India’s economy expanded by 7.7% in FY 2025-26, with a further acceleration to 7.8% in the fourth quarter, showcasing resilience and strength fostered over the past 12 years through the ‘Reform, Perform, Transform’ approach.
Singh praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for combining economic growth with stability, confidence, sustainability, and credibility. Modi’s dedication to nation-building, focus on innovation, infrastructure, and entrepreneurship, alongside steering India through global challenges, has positioned the country as a confident and globally respected economic power. This growth trajectory continues to create opportunities and bolster the aspirations of India’s 1.4 billion citizens.
Prime Minister Modi also commended the latest growth figures, attributing the expansion to the economy’s inherent strength, the success of reforms, and the collective efforts of 1.4 billion Indians. The GDP growth rate of 7.7% in FY 2025-26 and 7.8% in Q4 of FY 2025-26 underscores India’s economic robustness and the commitment to enhancing ‘Ease of Living’ and ‘Ease of Doing Business’ for the youth.
Data from the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation revealed that India’s economy grew by 7.7% in 2025-26, surpassing the 7.1% growth in 2024-25. The GDP for the January-March quarter of FY 2025-26 was estimated at 7.8%, with real GDP reaching Rs 323.12 lakh crore in 2025-26, reflecting significant growth compared to the previous year.
