Delhi Legislative Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta recently met with students from Ladakh and other regions, emphasizing the importance of such interactions in fostering a united India. He highlighted that these visits play a crucial role in strengthening the country’s national unity beyond just geographical boundaries. Gupta, during an interactive session with the students, underscored the significance of understanding democratic systems and the values of dialogue, accountability, and public service.
Gupta, addressing a delegation organized by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) under the Students’ Experience in Regional Understanding (SERU) initiative, stressed that the visit was not merely symbolic but a valuable opportunity for young citizens to observe firsthand how a democratic system operates. He mentioned that democratic policies are formulated and public concerns are addressed within the framework of the Constitution during such visits.
The Speaker also discussed the broader national vision, describing India’s current phase as crucial. He outlined the concept of Viksit Bharat, which goes beyond economic growth to encompass social inclusivity, quality education, and technological advancements. Gupta encouraged the students to embody the philosophy of “Aatm Deepo Bhav” (Be your own light) and emphasized the importance of clarity of thought and self-assurance in contributing to national development.
Gupta further informed the students about the implementation of the Audit Para Monitoring System (APMS) within the Government of NCT of Delhi, making it one of the first State Assemblies in the country to adopt a comprehensive real-time audit monitoring portal. He also highlighted digital advancements such as the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA), which has enabled the Delhi Legislative Assembly to become a fully digital, paperless entity. Additionally, the Assembly’s transition to solar power has marked a significant environmental achievement.
In a move to preserve the democratic spirit, Gupta announced plans to convert the Delhi Legislative Assembly into a distinguished Heritage Site, allowing the public to explore its historical significance and its enduring role in India’s democratic structure.
