Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta initiated a Mega Tree Plantation Drive in Rohini, emphasizing the importance of sapling survival as the true measure of a successful green initiative. Gupta highlighted that the focus should not only be on planting trees but also on ensuring their growth and care for future generations. He stressed the need for sustained efforts in nurturing saplings to achieve a greener environment.
The event, held at Chitragupt Park, DDA District Park, Sector-14, Rohini, was a collaborative effort between the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and voluntary organizations to enhance environmental sustainability and community involvement in creating a cleaner and healthier Delhi. Over 500 indigenous Jamun saplings were planted during the program, with an emphasis on increasing the green cover with native tree species.
Gupta commended the public participation in Rohini, making it one of Delhi’s greenest areas through continuous environmental endeavors. He urged for the plantation campaign to transform into a widespread movement, involving every household in safeguarding and expanding Delhi’s greenery. Emphasizing the significance of indigenous trees like Neem and Jamun, Gupta encouraged residents to conduct plantation activities in local parks to contribute to environmental conservation.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, Gupta highlighted the emotional and cultural value of planting and caring for a tree in honor of one’s mother. He noted that such gestures symbolize love, gratitude, and environmental awareness, reinforcing family values and ecological consciousness.
