Delhi Speaker Vijender Gupta announced that the Assembly has officially acknowledged the Punjab Police’s filing of an FIR against Minister Kapil Mishra based on an unauthorized video clip of House proceedings. The video clip, reportedly related to the alleged “disrespect of Sikh Gurus” by AAP leader Atishi, was brought up by BJP’s Laxmi Nagar MLA Abhay Verma.
The FIR, initiated by Jalandhar Police, is rooted in a video clip concerning the Atishi incident in the Delhi Assembly, obtained by Punjab Police from Mishra’s X handle and subjected to forensic examination, leading to it being deemed “tampered” and resulting in a case against Mishra. Speaker Gupta emphasized that the issue raised by Verma involves a breach of the House’s privilege.
Gupta highlighted that the video recordings made within the House are the exclusive property of the House itself. He expressed concern over the registration of the case based on the video, stressing that any interference with the House’s property constitutes a breach of privilege. The Speaker affirmed that the House will address the matter and contemplate appropriate action against the Jalandhar Police Commissioner.
