As part of the birth centenary celebrations of late former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the Delhi BJP organized an “Atal Smriti Sammelan” in the Rohini Assembly constituency. The event featured speeches by local MLA and Speaker of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, Vijender Gupta, and Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva.
Gupta shared his experiences of working closely with Atal Bihari Vajpayee, highlighting Vajpayee’s 45-year journey of serving the nation before becoming Prime Minister. He emphasized that Vajpayee’s life serves as an inspiration not only for BJP workers but for all Indians.
During the event, Sachdeva praised Vajpayee as a great leader who faced numerous challenges in his life and served as India’s Prime Minister on three occasions. He also mentioned Vajpayee’s early career as a journalist before entering politics, emphasizing his oratory skills, intellect, and restraint as defining qualities.
Sachdeva further described Vajpayee as an exceptional orator whose speeches resonated with people of all ages. He highlighted Vajpayee’s role as a skilled statesman who significantly contributed to strengthening India’s foreign policy. As Prime Minister, Vajpayee made historic decisions such as the Pokhran nuclear tests, the Lahore Summit, and the Golden Quadrilateral project, in addition to initiating economic reforms.
The conference saw the participation of various BJP leaders, including North West District BJP President Vinod Sehrawat, former MLA Jai Bhagwan Aggarwal, and councillor Pravesh Wahi, among others. Sachdeva lauded Vajpayee’s immense contributions to the nation, noting that his dedication to serving the country led to him being honored with the Bharat Ratna.
