As part of the birth centenary year of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organized “Atal Smriti Sammelans” across 23 Assembly constituencies. The series was inaugurated on December 25 by BJP’s Working President Nitin Nabin, aiming to share Vajpayee’s vision with young party workers. These events are being held from December 28 to 31 in the remaining 69 Assembly constituencies in Delhi.
The conferences saw prominent figures like Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood, senior BJP leader Sumit Bhasin, and Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva addressing different Assembly constituencies. Sachdeva highlighted Vajpayee’s significant decisions, including the Pokhran nuclear tests, the Lahore Summit, and the Golden Quadrilateral project, emphasizing his contributions to India’s economic growth.
Various Assembly conferences featured key speakers such as Delhi Minister Parvesh Singh Verma, former Union Minister Harsh Vardhan, and former Governor Jagdish Mukhi. They discussed Vajpayee’s initiatives like the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana and the Telecom Policy, which played crucial roles in India’s development. The late Vajpayee, born on December 25, 1924, in Gwalior, was remembered as a great leader who served as India’s Prime Minister thrice.
Delhi BJP President Sachdeva praised Vajpayee’s journey from a journalist to a political stalwart, highlighting his roles in the formation of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh and the Bharatiya Janata Party. Sachdeva also acknowledged Vajpayee’s association with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and his significant contributions to its growth. These events aimed to honor Vajpayee’s legacy and commemorate his remarkable contributions to Indian politics.
