Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva criticized Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders Saurabh Bharadwaj, Sanjeev Jha, and Adil Ahmed Khan for their actions that allegedly hurt the sentiments of Christians. Sachdeva mentioned that the FIR against the AAP leaders exposed what he called their insensitive and petty politics. He emphasized that the behavior of these leaders, who are public representatives, was inappropriate and lacked seriousness.
The Delhi BJP President condemned the AAP leaders for what he described as an indecent act of mocking religious faith, stating that such behavior is unacceptable in any religion. He highlighted that making fun of any religion is wrong in all circumstances. Sachdeva also criticized the timing of the incident, mentioning that it occurred during a festival observed by the minority community.
Accusing the AAP leaders of disrespecting the minority community, Sachdeva stressed that while opposition parties have the right to protest, there are constitutional and sensitive ways to do so. His comments came as an FIR was filed against the AAP leaders for allegedly hurting the religious sentiments of the Christian community through a video that depicted Santa Claus in a gas mask. The FIR, registered under Section 302 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), carries a punishment of up to one year.
