Delhi BJP President, Harsh Malhotra, expressed approval of the Election Commission of India’s decision to extend the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) deadline in Delhi. He cautioned citizens about misinformation being circulated by AAP and Congress leaders among Purvanchalis regarding the alleged deletion of voters’ names.
Malhotra criticized AAP leaders for inciting the Purvanchal community and economically weaker sections against the Bharatiya Janata Party. He highlighted that people from eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, and other states settled in Delhi have consistently supported BJP governments in their home states.
The Delhi BJP President emphasized that AAP’s misinformation campaign would not negatively impact the Purvanchal community. He mentioned that the real aim behind AAP’s focus on the SIR issue was to safeguard their Bangladeshi and Rohingya voters.
Malhotra urged Delhi residents, including those from the Purvanchal region, to ensure their voter registration validity with the help of government Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and BJP’s BLA-2 representatives. He noted that the extended SIR timeline would facilitate transparent work by BLOs.
Stressing the objectives of the SIR, Malhotra stated that it aimed to prevent foreign nationals from being registered as Indian voters and ensure that every Indian citizen is registered to vote at only one location. He appealed to the people of Delhi not to be misled by the misinformation spread by the Aam Aadmi Party and Congress leaders.
