Delhi BJP Spokesperson, Praveen Shankar Kapoor, revealed that Arvind Kejriwal handed an apology letter to Nitin Gadkari in a defamation case back in 2018, as shared on social media. Kapoor suggested that Kejriwal might have to apologize to Gadkari again publicly regarding the ethanol-petrol issue. He criticized Kejriwal for reverting to his old political tactics of making allegations against leaders and losing credibility due to corruption allegations from 2013 to 2025.
Over the past two months, Kejriwal has faced criticism for his opposition to E20 fuel, citing concerns about performance and mileage issues. The Union Petroleum Ministry clarified that India’s ethanol blending program has a long history and transition to E20 was based on extensive testing and consultations. The Ministry highlighted that the ethanol blending initiative dates back to 2001 and was officially announced in 2004, with E5 blending starting in 2006.
Kejriwal’s claims about increasing vehicle issues related to ethanol-blended petrol were countered by the Ministry, stating that the program’s transition was not arbitrary but backed by years of research and field experience. The Ministry emphasized that the policy framework for ethanol blending was established during the UPA government in 2013 and is well-documented. It refuted Kejriwal’s assertions by pointing out the program’s institutional history and milestones.
