Delhi Capitals advanced to the final of the Women’s Premier League 2026 by defeating Gujarat Giants in the Eliminator match at the BCA Stadium. They achieved a comfortable seven-wicket victory, chasing down a target of 169 with 26 balls to spare. This win sets up a final showdown against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, marking Delhi Capitals’ fourth consecutive appearance in the WPL final.

The opening pair of Lizelle Lee and Shafali Verma set the stage for Delhi Capitals’ successful chase with a blazing 89-run partnership off just 43 deliveries. The team’s middle order then ensured a smooth finish to the match. Chinelle Henry emphasized the importance of clear plans and confidence in executing individual roles, especially highlighting the impact of top-order batters like Shafali and Lizelle.

Henry also discussed the team’s collaborative approach and strategic discussions, particularly acknowledging the valuable contributions of players like Jemimah Rodrigues and Marizanne Kapp. She praised the team’s unity and trust in each other’s abilities, emphasizing the collective effort in high-pressure situations. Nandni Sharma’s standout performance with the ball, supported by Henry’s crucial wickets, played a pivotal role in restricting the Giants and maintaining control throughout the match.

Looking ahead to the final, Henry emphasized the team’s unwavering focus and commitment to continuous improvement. Despite the victory in the Eliminator, she stressed the team’s determination to clinch the WPL championship. Delhi Capitals will now prepare to face Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the highly anticipated final on Thursday.
