Delhi Capitals (DC) have brought in England all-rounder Rehan Ahmed to replace Ben Duckett for the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season. Rehan, a 21-year-old right-arm leg-spinner, joins the team for a fee of INR 75 lakh. He has played for England in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is, claiming a total of 49 international wickets.
Duckett opted out of his debut IPL season to focus on his England duties post a challenging Ashes tour. Initially, the Capitals adjusted their batting lineup with Pathum Nissanka partnering KL Rahul at the top. Rehan, known for his wrist-spin, has shown batting prowess as well, impressing during the 2025 County Championship with 760 runs at an average of 50.66 and 23 wickets.
Rehan’s performance in the 2026 T20 World Cup, where he excelled in breaking partnerships, further highlighted his skills. With experience in various global tournaments like the BBL and The Hundred, Rehan adds depth to the Capitals’ squad. The Delhi Capitals have had a mixed start in IPL 2026, winning three and losing three matches, currently standing fifth in the points table. Despite standout performances from players like Sameer Rizvi and KL Rahul, the team has faced challenges in tight games, including a one-run loss to the Gujarat Titans.
The team, led by Axar Patel, will take on Punjab Kings (PBKS) next at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday.
