Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta recently launched Atal Canteens in Shalimar Bagh and Pitampura, where nutritious meals are available for just Rs 5. During the inauguration at Pitampura, she personally served food to elderly women, receiving heartfelt blessings in return. Gupta expressed her commitment to the comprehensive development of the capital and emphasized the government’s dedication to expanding basic amenities for all residents.
At the event, Member of Parliament Praveen Khandelwal, Municipal Councillor Anita Jain, and various local dignitaries and beneficiaries were present. The Chief Minister highlighted that the initiative is inspired by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s vision of inclusive development, ensuring benefits reach every individual. She also mentioned plans to collaborate with social organizations to extend the reach of the scheme, providing affordable and nutritious food to more people in need.
Gupta inaugurated the first Atal Canteen in Shalimar Bagh and later one in Pitampura, praising the quality and nutritional value of the food. She announced plans to develop the Pitampura canteen complex into a comprehensive public service center, offering additional facilities like an Ayushman Arogya Mandir, clean toilets, and a safe drinking water RO plant.
