Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta initiated a door-to-door waste collection and secondary transportation project in the West Delhi Municipal Corporation area by flagging off 917 modern vehicles. Following the event, she engaged with sanitation workers from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), commending their dedicated service and recognizing their crucial role in enhancing Delhi’s cleanliness. Gupta also dined with the workers, expressing appreciation for their dedication and commitment.

The event was attended by Delhi Ministers Ashish Sood and Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Delhi Mayor Pravesh Wahi, MCD Commissioner Sanjeev Khirwar, and other dignitaries. Chief Minister Gupta emphasized that the Delhi government aims not only to gather waste but to establish a modern, technology-driven, transparent, and citizen-centric solid waste management system. She highlighted that the new system would enhance the efficiency, timeliness, and accountability of door-to-door waste collection, contributing significantly to a cleaner, healthier, and more attractive Delhi.

Gupta expressed confidence that through a blend of modern technology, robust infrastructure, and public involvement, Delhi would emerge as the cleanest and most well-managed capital in the nation. The project is set to benefit approximately 4.5 lakh families across 25 wards of the West Delhi Municipal Corporation, with the initial phase covering six wards and the remaining 19 wards scheduled to be included by August 31. To bolster sanitation services, a fleet of 917 state-of-the-art vehicles and modern waste collection equipment has been deployed to ensure prompt and efficient waste collection from households.
