Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta shared her vision for the development of the national capital and its role in ‘Viksit Bharat@2047’ during the 11th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She emphasized that a nation’s development is not just about economic or technological progress but also the capability and productivity of its citizens. Gupta highlighted Delhi’s significant contribution to the country’s progress and detailed the government’s initiatives in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and social welfare. She expressed gratitude for the support from PM Modi and the Central government in achieving the goal of a developed Delhi.
Chief Minister Gupta acknowledged the collaborative efforts between Delhi and the Central government in various projects, including the development of road infrastructure worth nearly Rs 1 lakh crore with Central assistance. She also mentioned the establishment of a special coordination team with neighboring states to address environmental issues like pollution and restore the Yamuna river’s flow. Gupta outlined initiatives such as providing free bicycles to girl students, administrative reforms through digitalization, establishment of Control and Command Centres, and the development of automated testing stations for commercial vehicles in Delhi. She highlighted the growth of the Metro network in Delhi, surpassing that of other states, and introduced the ‘Samarth’ initiative for the transformation of Anganwadi centers, focusing on women and children’s welfare and empowerment.
