Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta expressed gratitude to Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari for initiating various road and connectivity ventures in Delhi-NCR to address traffic congestion and pollution. She commended the efforts of the Centre, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in establishing a modern and efficient infrastructure network for the capital. Gupta emphasized that without the construction of expressways, elevated corridors, tunnels, and signal-free roads led by Gadkari, Delhi’s current traffic situation would have been dire.
Projects worth Rs 1.31 lakh crore have been approved for the development of the Delhi-NCR region in the last 12 years. The total value of completed, ongoing, and upcoming road infrastructure projects in the area has now surged to nearly Rs 1.60 lakh crore, as announced by the Union Minister. Gupta particularly lauded the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway link project, describing it as a significant asset for the city, ensuring seamless connectivity between Delhi, Noida, Faridabad, Gurugram, and Jewar Airport.
During a recent briefing, Gadkari unveiled several major forthcoming projects associated with Delhi, including a Rs 3,500 crore six-lane project connecting UER-II with the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, a Rs 7,500 crore Noida-Faridabad high-speed corridor, and the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra connectivity project. These initiatives aim to alleviate traffic congestion in the capital and enhance regional connectivity. Additionally, projects like the Kalindi Kunj interchange, Ashram-Badarpur six-lane corridor, and signal-free connectivity from the Haryana-Delhi border to Punjabi Bagh are expected to further ease traffic flow.
Chief Minister Gupta highlighted the dual benefits of the Centre’s efforts, emphasizing not only the construction of roads but also the significant environmental contribution made by utilizing waste and inert material from Delhi’s garbage mountains in road construction.
