Delhi Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta, declared a two-day Work From Home (WFH) policy for all state government offices. This decision aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for nationwide fuel-saving efforts amid the West Asia conflict crisis. The WFH initiative and fuel-saving measures will commence from the following day.
Chief Minister Gupta unveiled various steps during a press conference in the national capital, emphasizing fuel conservation. She urged private offices to also adopt the two-day WFH approach to support the city’s conservation endeavors. Additionally, Delhi will refrain from hosting major events for three months, and government employees are restricted from foreign tours for a year.
CM Gupta proposed a 20% reduction in petrol allowances for government vehicles, exempting essential services. The city government encouraged residents to observe a weekly ‘No Vehicle Day’ to significantly reduce fuel expenses. Moreover, Delhi will halt new vehicle procurement for several months and promote Electric Vehicle usage.
Prime Minister Modi’s recent plea urged citizens to take national responsibility by curbing unnecessary spending, particularly on fuel. He highlighted the importance of reducing fuel consumption to alleviate the strain on the country’s finances and foreign exchange reserves.
