Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta criticized Opposition leaders for politicizing calls to save fuel and for labeling her government’s cost-cutting measures as a sign of failure. She defended the decision to reduce official convoys, stating that it was in response to the Opposition’s demand for the government to lead by example in fuel conservation.
Gupta questioned whether the Opposition would now follow suit and give up luxury when criticizing the government’s actions. She accused them of hypocrisy, emphasizing that saving fuel and promoting indigenous resources should be a national priority, not a political game. The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of visionary leadership in addressing challenges and criticized opportunistic politicians for sowing fear and confusion.
In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Nation First’ initiative, Gupta launched a campaign focused on fuel conservation, green mobility, and responsible civic behavior. She led by example by limiting her official convoy, prioritizing electric vehicles and public transport, and encouraging others to do the same. Gupta stressed the need for collective efforts towards nation-building, emphasizing the positive impact of small yet responsible actions on the economy and the environment.
