Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta addressed an alleged racial harassment incident in Malviya Nagar, emphasizing zero tolerance for misconduct towards Northeastern residents in the capital. The case involved three women from Arunachal Pradesh facing racial slurs and humiliation from their neighbors, Harsh Singh and Ruby Jain, over a dispute on February 20.

The accused couple, Harsh Singh and Ruby Jain, were arrested by Delhi Police five days after the incident. Chief Minister Gupta, in a video message, assured support to the victims and stated that all residents, including those from the Northeast, have equal rights in Delhi.

Gupta reiterated her government’s commitment to punishing the offenders and promised to address issues faced by Northeastern residents directly. The case has invoked provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, with ongoing investigations supervised by senior officers.
