A Delhi court has found an illegal Bangladeshi national guilty of unlawfully residing in India by obtaining Indian identity documents through fraudulent means. The convict, known as Sabu alias Shabu Sardar, was convicted under relevant sections at Paharganj Police Station. The court’s ruling mandates his deportation back to Bangladesh.
The judgment was pronounced by the Link Judicial Magistrate First Class at Tis Hazari Courts, Central District, on Saturday. The case was brought to light by the Special Staff of the Central District, who uncovered intelligence on Bangladeshi nationals illegally staying in Delhi with false Indian identities. Acting on this information, the police apprehended the accused in the Paharganj area.
Investigation revealed that the accused had entered India illegally and acquired Indian identity documents like Passport, Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, and bank accounts by concealing his true identity. The evidence collected during the probe, including forged documents and technical records, confirmed his illegal stay in the country. The accused, realizing the strength of the evidence against him, pleaded guilty in court.
Accepting the plea, the court sentenced the accused to the period already served in imprisonment. Furthermore, the authorities were directed to detain him in a center and complete the deportation formalities. The police highlighted that the conviction was a result of a thorough investigation supported by technical surveillance and documentary evidence, ensuring compliance with the law.
