A Delhi court has instructed that a copy of the chargesheet must be given to the accused, Gaganpreet Kaur, in the Dhaula Kuan BMW road accident case. The accident resulted in the death of a senior Finance Ministry officer. Judicial Magistrate Ankit Garg issued this directive when Gaganpreet Kaur appeared in the Patiala House Court following a summons. The next step in the case is the scrutiny of documents scheduled for February 20.
The court had previously acknowledged the charge sheet submitted by the Delhi Police on January 23 and summoned the accused individual. The magistrate, upon review, found that the charge sheet and its accompanying documents indicated the commission of an offense. Consequently, the magistrate decided to proceed with the case and summoned the accused for the upcoming hearing.
The charges in the sheet include Sections 105, 281, 125B, and 238A of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). The incident, which occurred on September 14, 2025, in the Dhaula Kuan area, involved a BMW car allegedly driven by Gaganpreet Kaur colliding with a motorcycle. This collision led to the death of Navjot Singh, a Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, and caused severe injuries to his wife.
According to the prosecution, the accident was a result of the accused’s actions. Furthermore, it was alleged that the accused intentionally took the injured victim to a distant hospital, causing a critical delay in receiving medical attention. The prosecution highlighted that timely medical intervention could have saved the victim’s life. However, instead of choosing nearby hospitals like AIIMS or the Army Base Hospital, which were just 10–15 minutes away, the victim was taken to Nulife Hospital in North Delhi, approximately 23 minutes from the accident site, resulting in a fatal delay.
The prosecution has utilized CCTV footage collected during the investigation to establish the sequence of events post-accident.
