A Delhi court has denied the bail plea of Dr. Manoj Bhagwanrao Shirure, a key figure in the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case investigated by the CBI. The court upheld the CBI’s assertion that Shirure’s involvement in an organized exam fraud is evident at this crucial stage of the investigation.
Special Judge (CBI) Ajay Gupta of the Rouse Avenue Court dismissed the bail application filed under Sections 480 and 483 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita after considering arguments from both the prosecution and the defense. The CBI strongly opposed the bail plea, labeling Shirure as an “active conspirator” in the larger scheme related to leaked Chemistry questions before the NEET-UG 2026 exam.
The CBI pointed out that the offense affected over 22.05 lakh candidates, leading to the exam’s cancellation and financial losses, tarnishing the credibility of the examination system. The agency emphasized that Shirure played a significant role in facilitating the procurement and dissemination of leaked Chemistry questions, implicating him in the conspiracy.
