A Delhi court is set to review the National Investigation Agency’s extensive chargesheet related to the Red Fort blast incident on June 4. The chargesheet, spanning about 7,500 pages, was lodged by the anti-terror agency at the Patiala House Court against 10 accused under various laws like the UAPA, BNS, Explosive Substances Act, Arms Act, and Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.
The high-impact Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) explosion occurred near the Red Fort area on November 10, 2025, leading to a nationwide security alert and significant damage to nearby property. The accused individuals mentioned in the chargesheet were purportedly linked to Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGuH), an organization believed to be connected to Al-Qaida in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS).
One of the accused highlighted in the chargesheet is Dr. Umer Un Nabi, identified as the alleged mastermind and a former Assistant Professor of Medicine at Al-Falah University in Haryana’s Faridabad. The agency has recommended dropping charges against him as he was killed in the blast. Other individuals named in the chargesheet include Aamir Rashid Mir, Jasir Bilal Wani, Dr. Muzamil Shakeel, Dr. Adeel Ahmed Rather, Dr. Shaheen Saeed, Mufti Irfan Ahmad Wagay, Soyab, Dr. Bilal Naseer Malla, and Yasir Ahmad Dar.
The NIA’s investigation spanned various regions like Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and the Delhi-NCR area. It involved scrutinizing 588 witnesses, over 395 documentary records, and more than 200 seized exhibits and objects. In March, the Patiala House Court granted the NIA an additional 45 days to conclude its inquiry into the case due to emerging crucial leads and the examination of a substantial volume of digital evidence.
