Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood led a high-level meeting to discuss creating a regulatory framework for coaching centers in Delhi. The Director of Higher Education will oversee policy drafting, focusing on areas like fee structures, student safety, mental health support, and infrastructure standards. The committee will also address teacher welfare, building safety compliance, and standardizing working conditions.

The decision to establish this policy follows a report by a committee led by Justice (Retd.) R.C. Gauba, formed after a fatal incident at a coaching institute in Old Rajendra Nagar. This committee aims to identify gaps and propose stricter regulations. The meeting involved officials from key regulatory agencies like the Delhi Fire Services, Delhi Police, and Municipal Corporation of Delhi.

The Delhi government is prioritizing the regulation of coaching institutes, emphasizing a shift towards a coordinated academic and regulatory approach. A multidisciplinary committee will develop guidelines for grievance redressal mechanisms for staff and students, ensuring a safe and student-focused environment. Delhi aims to set a precedent by implementing comprehensive guidelines for coaching institutes nationwide.
