The Delhi government has declared financial assistance for the families affected by the recent tragic fire incident in Palam, offering support to those who lost their lives and sustained injuries. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta expressed deep sorrow over the incident and assured solidarity with the affected families during this challenging period. The government has pledged Rs 10 lakh compensation for each deceased adult’s family and Rs 5 lakh for the families of deceased minors, along with Rs 2 lakh aid for those seriously injured in the fire.

In a heartfelt message on social media, CM Gupta expressed her sadness over the devastating fire in Palam, offering condolences to the grieving families and praying for peace for the departed souls. She emphasized the government’s commitment to providing relief and assistance to those impacted by the tragedy, ensuring comprehensive support for the affected families. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also extended his condolences and announced ex-gratia aid for the victims’ families, with Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund for each deceased individual’s next of kin and Rs 50,000 for the injured.

The fire, which occurred in a multi-storey building in Ram Market, Palam, resulted in the loss of at least nine lives and left numerous others wounded. The building housed a cloth and cosmetic showroom on the lower floors, while the owner’s family resided on the upper levels. Prompt response from police and fire officials led to the evacuation of several individuals from the building, who were then transported to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. A magisterial probe has been initiated by the Delhi government to determine the fire’s cause and the events leading to the tragic outcome.
