The Delhi Environment Minister and Transport Minister inaugurated a new app-based electric taxi service in Delhi-NCR to enhance the city’s green initiatives. Initially, 1,000 Electric Vehicle (EV) taxis were introduced, with plans to expand to 10,000 vehicles within a year. Representatives from Green SM, a Vietnam-based company investing in India, were also present at the event.
Minister Sirsa highlighted the government’s commitment to eco-friendly projects under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s leadership. He emphasized the importance of initiatives like the electric taxi service in combating pollution and enhancing citizens’ quality of life. Minister Singh emphasized the significance of electric mobility in Delhi’s sustainable urban transport vision, aligning with the city’s EV Policy objectives to reduce emissions and improve air quality.
The ministers reiterated the government’s dedication to sustainable transportation and emphasized the role of electric vehicles in promoting a cleaner environment and better quality of life. They praised the ‘Make in India’ initiative, noting that the electric cabs exemplify the country’s manufacturing capabilities and contribute to a more sustainable transportation ecosystem. The taxis are equipped with advanced safety features, including AI-assisted cameras and emergency SOS buttons, with a focus on enhancing women’s safety and empowerment.
