The Delhi government is set to launch 81 new Ayushman Arogya Mandirs on Wednesday, expanding the program’s reach and improving primary healthcare services at the local level in the capital. Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh highlighted that this initiative will enhance accessible and preventive healthcare for residents. The total number of centers will increase to 319 across Delhi with this expansion.
“With this addition, Delhi is steadily progressing toward establishing over 1,100 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, aligning with the city’s long-term primary healthcare plan,” Minister Singh stated. The existing 238 operational Ayushman Arogya Mandirs will see an increase to 319 after the inauguration. These centers play a crucial role in the government’s mission to offer free, accessible, and respectful primary healthcare near every home.
Each Ayushman Arogya Mandir will provide free doctor consultations, essential medicines, diagnostic tests, and screenings for various health conditions. These services include diabetes, hypertension, cancer screening, maternal and child healthcare, immunization support, lifestyle counseling, mental health services, and preventive health programs like yoga and nutrition guidance. The initiative aims to reduce the burden on major hospitals, ensuring prompt care for women, senior citizens, and low-income families without the need for extensive travel or long waiting times.
In addition to expanding Arogya Mandirs, Delhi is enhancing coverage under the Ayushman Bharat–Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) and the Ayushman Bharat-Vaya Vandana Yojana (AB-VVY). As of January 13, 2026, Delhi has issued a total of 6,91,530 health cards (combined PM-JAY + VVY), including 2,65,895 VVY cards. To ensure seamless access to secondary and tertiary care, the city now boasts 189 empanelled hospitals, comprising 138 private hospitals, 41 Delhi government hospitals, and 10 Central government hospitals. These hospitals offer cashless treatment, enabling financially vulnerable families to access critical care without financial barriers.
