Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh refuted media reports and speculations claiming discrepancies in the spending on Ayushman Arogya Mandirs in Delhi. He emphasized that the development and functioning of these centers strictly adhered to the financial norms and guidelines set by the Government of India. Singh clarified that the allegations of cosmetic changes to existing health facilities and exceeding approved expenditure limits are inaccurate.
Under the approved framework for Ayushman Arogya Mandirs by the Union government, a fixed allocation model has been implemented for infrastructure enhancement and service improvement. Each center received Rs 25 lakh for infrastructure upgrades and Rs 1 lakh for furniture and essential requirements. All activities undertaken were within the sanctioned limits to enhance service quality, patient care, diagnostic readiness, and primary healthcare infrastructure.
In the fiscal year 2025-26, a total of 370 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs became operational in Delhi under centrally sponsored healthcare schemes to expand accessible and preventive healthcare services. These include 244 centers under PM-ABHIM (Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission) and 126 centers under NHM (National Health Mission). The Minister assured that the financial disbursements for these projects align with the approved scheme provisions and utilization norms. The total funds released to date amount to Rs 66.80 crore, with Rs 58.30 crore under PM-ABHIM and Rs 8.50 crore under NHM.
