The Delhi High Court postponed a hearing on the Enforcement Directorate’s plea to remove adverse remarks made by a trial court against all accused, including Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia from AAP, in the excise policy case. The court granted additional time for responses from AAP leaders and other respondents.
The Enforcement Directorate, represented by Additional Solicitor General S.V. Raju, opposed the delay request, stating that the respondents had already received the petition copies. Despite this, the court decided to allow the respondents to present their case and scheduled the next hearing for April 2.
The ED sought the removal of certain parts of the order passed by the trial court, which discharged all 23 accused in the corruption case related to the excise policy under the AAP-led Delhi government. The High Court had earlier issued notice on the ED’s plea and indicated that it would be heard with the CBI’s petition challenging the discharge order.
The matter remains under scrutiny, with the High Court examining the trial court’s judgment and the remarks made against the ED. The CBI has also challenged the discharge of the accused, alleging manipulation of the excise policy for personal gains.
