Delhi Lieutenant Governor T.S. Sandhu expressed deep concern over an incident in Vasant Enclave where a serving Brigadier of the Indian Army, his wife, and their son, a 23-year-old IIT Delhi graduate, were assaulted. Sandhu has instructed the Delhi Police to ensure the safety of the officer and his family. He personally contacted the Brigadier to inquire about the incident and their well-being, emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation.
An FIR has been filed, and the police are investigating alleged lapses in the initial response. The main accused, identified as Satinder Kumar, is associated with an aviation company. The assault occurred when the Brigadier and his son confronted individuals drinking alcohol in a parked car near their home. The family of the senior army officer claimed that police assistance was delayed, and action was taken only after intervention through defence channels.
The incident, which took place on April 11, involved a confrontation between the officer’s family and a group of men objecting to alcohol consumption in their residential area. Despite calling the police, the family was reportedly attacked by the assailants. Sandhu reiterated the commitment to citizen safety and upholding the rule of law, directing the Delhi Police to provide full security to the affected family.
