Delhi Lieutenant Governor T.S. Sandhu highlighted the importance of a comprehensive and forward-looking strategy for ensuring school safety and resilience. Addressing the National Summit on Safe Schools Leadership 2026, Sandhu emphasized that school safety now encompasses cyber security, mental well-being, and disaster preparedness, in addition to physical infrastructure. He stressed that education should provide a secure environment for young minds to learn and grow, citing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s view that education is a powerful tool for improving lives. Sandhu launched the National Model School Safety Toolkit during the event, aiming to establish a culture of prevention and readiness in schools. He urged school leaders to integrate safety measures into institutional leadership, including safety audits, emergency plans, mock drills, trained staff, and collaboration with government agencies and communities. Sandhu also highlighted the role of technology in enhancing school safety through digital monitoring, early warnings, and risk assessment, emphasizing the need for human readiness and strong leadership alongside technological solutions. The Lieutenant Governor expressed optimism that the Summit would reinforce the collective commitment to creating safe and nurturing learning environments for all children.
